Tofu Recipe

Friday, May 16, 2014

Here is another yummy recipe that I'm going to share with you.
INGREDIENTS:

  • Firm Tofu
  • Ketchup
  • Soy Sauce
  • Garlic Salt or finely minced garlic and salt

First of all, you're probably thinking ketchup and soy sauce? Ew! Trust me it totally grossed me out at first but I decided to mix the two together and it actually tastes really good. The soy sauce balances out the sweetness in the ketchup, and the ketchup adds a thick consistency to the mixture without using a thickening agent like cornstarch.

This recipe is really really simple. First things first, preheat your oven to 375 degrees. All you need to do is combine soy sauce and ketchup together in a bowl. I don't really use measurements so I free hand it, but it's basically a 60 to 40 ratio of soy sauce to ketchup. Once you mix it all up it should be a kind of burgundy colour.

Cut up the firm tofu into cubes or blocks like I did and just mix it all up in a bowl. Add the garlic salt or minced garlic and salt and continue to mix until all the tofu has some of the ketchup-soy sauce covering it.

Let it sit for around 10 minutes.

Then arrange it all on a pan so that they are laying in an even layer.

Pop it into the preheated oven (375 degrees) for 15 minutes.

After it bakes in the oven, this is the final product! It should be steaming and delicious!
