Lower Calorie Grilled Cheese Recipe

Saturday, April 12, 2014

Grilled Cheese sandwich's taste absolutely divine and everyone knows how to make it, just spread a lot of butter on two slices of bread, put it on a pan on the stove and add cheese.

BUT the amount of calories butter adds to your sandwich is kinda gross.. Butter has about 100 calories per tablespoon so for people who spread one tablespoon of butter on each slice of bread, thats around 200 calories. Yikes!

There is a way to cut the calories in half.. using mayo instead of butter. I know using mayo sounds gross but it spreads easier than butter (so you end up using less) and it has around 40 calories per tablespoon (so 60 less calories). The benefit of it is that mayo crisps up the bread just as well as butter so you won't be able to taste the difference in the end.

So the instructions to make the sandwich is the same as a regular grilled cheese. Just coat a little bit of mayo on the bread, put it on a nonstick heat on medium heat (mayo side down), add some cheese and put the other piece of bread on top and toast until it's golden.
