Vanilla Almond Milk Iced Coffee Recipe + Vanilla Syrup Recipe

Tuesday, October 29, 2013

Iced Coffee's are amazing, everyone can admit that. But buying them can be very pricey. Here is a recipe that I've concocted using vanilla syrup and almond milk.

Ingredients:

- Ice
- Unsweetened Vanilla Almond Milk
- Instant Coffee
- Hot Water

Vanilla Syrup:

- Vanilla Extract
- Water
- Sugar

Pour about 1/4 cup of hot water with as many tablespoons of instant coffee as you desire (I usually go for about two and a half tablespoons).

In another tall glass, fill it with about 5 or 6 ice cubes and about a cup of unsweetened vanilla almond milk.

Pour the coffee mixture into the milk.

For the syrup, I usually just put in about one or two tablespoons of pure vanilla extract, 1/4 cup of water, and a 1/4 cup of sugar, and nuke it in the microwave. I put it in the microwave for 30 seconds, mix it, put it in for another 30 seconds, mix it and so on (For a total 2 minutes).

The after-microwaving should look something like this: bubbly/thick syrup

Pour as much of the syrup mixture into your iced coffee and bam, you have a vanilla almond milk iced coffee!

The great thing about using unsweetened vanilla almond milk is that is only has 40 calories a cup! Skim (nonfat milk) has about 90 calories a cup, and 2% milk has 137 calories a cup.
