Affordable Starbucks Drinks!

Sunday, October 27, 2013

Drinking Starbucks is pretty much one of the best treats out there, it makes you feel special, from being able to customize your order, to the barista's writing down your name on your cup. However, it can really add up quickly if you visit Starbucks a lot. After years of going, and achieving a Starbucks Gold Card, I've learned a few drink orders that aren't that expensive, and still give you your caffeine dose.

1) Misto
Order a MISTO (which is just half coffee, normally pike, and half steamed milk)
The total cost of a Grande Misto including taxes is $2.89
You can also add a vanilla flavour shot if you want to have a vanilla flavoured drink for $0.55
My typical order is a "grande non-fat vanilla misto"

You can also order a Americano Misto, which is essentially the same thing as a Misto but the americano (espresso shots) replace the coffee. The great thing about a Misto is that it not only has less calories than a latte, it's also cheaper!

2) Iced Coffee
Iced coffee is something that I live off of during the summer. It's one of the cheaper drinks you can get at Starbucks, a grande costs a total of $3.10 including taxes.
My tip for you to get the most out of your buck is to order your iced coffee made with light ice. I find that they tend to put like half a cup of ice in the standard iced coffee and I don't really like that.

Also, to save calories get it made with non-fat milk. If you need to add sweetener, ask for it to be half sweetened. (Half sweetened = 2 pumps vs. the regular 4 pumps)

3) Iced Tea
This is the caffeine free option. Well, I know that tea has caffeine in it, but obviously not as much caffeine as coffee or espresso.

Sometimes when I feel like drinking Iced Tea, this is a great option. With taxes, a regular Grande Iced Tea (not Iced Tea Lemonade) is $2.47.

Anyways, I recommend to get a Iced Passion Tea with Peach Sweetener! It tastes great, and is the cheapest drink you can get at Starbucks (Totals to $2.47!) Or even Iced Green Tea with Peach Sweetener.

The funny thing is that I always used to get a Passion Tea Lemonade, until this one week where every single Starbucks in my city was out of Lemonade. It forced me to try new options and now, I rarely get an Iced Tea Lemonade.
A Grande Iced Tea Lemonade totals to $3.64 with taxes.

That's my list of cheaper drinks at Starbucks! For the record, all the prices are for Grande's, not Tall's or Venti's. If you're trying to calculate the price of a Tall or Venti, just subtract around $.50 from the Grande price to get the price for the Tall and add $.50 to the price of the Grande to get the price for the Venti
